Birth control always fails for a small minority. It's perfectly possible to end up accidentally pregnant without being a moron.

Things happen, teenagers are dumbfucks (unintentionally) we make mistakes throughtout growing up...

What's funny is that the criticism always falls on "stupid teenagers" even though the fathers are usually in their mid-twenties who should know better as well.

My thought is the right kind of teenager can raise a kid well, but if they still are dementedly self centered they wont get very far at all

You think that, as most teenagers do, but when you have a innocent child in your hands, that is YOURS, how could you still be selfish? That's when most people realize that that is THEIRS, and it is relying on only them to take care of it...

You are either incredibly naive or live in rose-tinted glasses land. Some teens are capable of the maturity to raise a child, some adults are incapable of the maturity to raise a child. But don't get all wrapped in this touchy feely fuzzy bullshit that once she has a baby in her arms, every mother suddenly matures and gives her all for her baby. Contrary to your idealized perception, most teen mothers don't. The baby is dumped off to be raised by the kid's mother or other relatives, or worse. Those newborn babies don't dump themselves in the dumpsters. No one answer applies to all.

i do not mean ALL people take care of their child, I am talking about the general public opinion that a teenager is not capable of taking care of their kid, and when they do they are looked down upon.

I don't mean she matures in an instant, but there is a mother instinct that takes over in most cases.

People who end up having kids as teenagers are the ones who shouldn't reproduce.
For instance, I believe I would make a knowledgeable, sensible mother.
But you won't see me getting pregnant.

How is birth control gonna fail for a virgin?

Just because you are sexually active, it doesn't make you an idiot who shouldn't reproduce.

Like I already said, teenagers will be teenagers, when you have hormones running ramped through your body things happen.

Sorry, I shouldn't have been so general.  Seriously though, I'm just saying those who have kids are usually the ones who shouldn't.

Eh I still strongly disagree with you there. My mom had me young, a lot of my friends are pregnant (they are older however... 19 and such) and I don't believe that is true.

It is tragic when it happens, but if they take care of their responsibilities why it it people still look down upon them?

They should be respected, when a 17 year old can raise her child better then a 30 year old, it is amazing.

No I agree.  Good parents are good parents, regardless of their age.  It just seems like there are a lot of teens, on this site or on others, that post stuff like "OMGZ! im preggerz. i think ill name it spork."

Since I know successful teenage parents who were 16-19 at the time of their child's birth, I would say, yes.

Ohh i see lol.

I agree. My boyfriend's ex is knocked up and actually called us to tell us!!

She asked me which sex I'd like to have, I told her... uhhh neither?

IDT I could honestly take on that type of responsibility. I don't know how I would react to having to put everything on hold for a baby, or even giving up shit for it... however I do know that if i were to ever get pregnant, the second I found out I would take on the responsibility.

But I am selfish, and still a teen, and would rather stay that way :P

That one of the largest problems in the world is ridiculous judgmentalism and close-minds, which inevitably leads to you getting on a high horse (which you've already done) and looking down your nose at everyone else you deem "unworthy" and trying to basically take any and every right and dignity away from them.

I generally think that every parent isn't ready when they have kids. No matter what their age is. It may be harder for teenage parents, but I don't think they're worse parents. They, too, can raise a kid. They, like every other person in the world, learn.
I think this is true because I am going to n=be a teenage mother and I believe that I can do it!
