If you read: http://www.golivewire.com/forums/peer-yynoaon-support-a.html Then the outcome of that case was; yes, he was convicted of murder.
Why?
Because mercy killing only works if the person is a vegetable. Meaning they are brain dead, need a machine to pump their hearts, live in a coma for more than 5 years or need an iron lung to breath.
So, if a machine is involved in that person's life and you simply 'pull the plug' it's not murder.
But because his daughter was perfectly capable of breathing and pumping blood she was considered 'alive'
I'm not really sure how I feel about this. You all presented great opinions:
It's stressful to have a child like that. Changing a 12 year olds' diaper, wiping their ass and never hearing them speak to you must be hard. So a mercy kill makes sense
Still: it IS your child. You decided to have it. Isn't it hard/wrong to kill that?
But the father was a freak. During the court hearing he mentioned that he'd considered shooting his daughter in the face as well to kill her.
The girls mother knew nothing of his plans.
