I know it's only October, but I want to get everything figured out as soon as I can so I can do this right. The girl I'm going to ask lives an hour away, what are some creatives ways to ask her despite not being able to do it in person? And since we go to different schools, should I assume that she thinks I'm asking her to my prom? Or should I leave the choice to her?

They may not be on the same day, maybe both. Anyways, leave the choice up to her.

When is prom, like March or April? Seriously I think it's a bit soon. Maybe it's just me... I mean I asked around the end of February, and she said it was pretty much perfect timing, gave plenty of time to find a dress and whatnot (prom was mid-April).

I understand wanting to get everything in order, but half a year for prom is a bit... exorbitant. In my opinion, anyway.

As for the rest of what you asked, I would definitely try to do it in person. And there's no shame in asking someone from outside of your school, plenty of people at my school did it (or went to proms at other schools).

I'm not going to ask now, I'm just asking these questions now so I can plan it out perfectly. I don't want to mess this up.
