to a mental hospital. my one friend thinks she should commit herself to one. if she gets help, then i'm all for it. has anyone done it? what is involved in it? but mostly her question was will she be able to see people, like visitors i guess, while she's there?

Yeah they can visit her.
It's just like a hospital but you live there. You have rooms sometimes you have a lot of privacy sometimes you don't, it depends on the place.
They do a cavity search on you when you get there so they know you're not trying to being anything in.

My cousin had to lie and say she tried to kill herself to get committed. I've never tried, but it seems kind of hard.

They WILL put her on meds and probably for something she doesn't even have.

you mean admitting herself? Same difference I guess.... Well, sounds like a good idea, and if you're a stable person, I'm sure you can have visitors. Maybe she should just try counseling first though? Unless it's really bad...

she tried it but she just wouldn't go and wouldn't say anything to the counselor.

makes sense... well, if she really needs it, then yeah, she should definitely do it

no... she tried to kill herself and she's just... she has a drug problem too and she is really messed up right now. she's not crazy though. just sick.
