I think it's best only to do so once you've done everything within your own power to deal with it. Then call a hotline for support.

Personally, I believe if something isn't manageable on your own and/or is inhibiting you functioning normally, then you should seek all the help available - call centres and doctors and anythign else! =P

Depends on you and the nature of the hotline though.
