I'm taking care of my baby sister, and she's only a month old. She's technically not even a newborn function wise because she was a preemie.

But I've been trying since last night. She was sleeping when she got here, and that was fine for a little bit but my dog started barking and it woke her up and freaked her out a little bit.

Since then I've tried everything I can think of to calm her down. I've tried a bottle, a couple of hours ago and now, rocking her, wrapping her up, holding her, I even tried a bath but I think that made it worse. Did I miss anything that usually helps or what? I really can't think of anything else, and I just want her to calm down.

Try some relaxing music. My mum said she played that when I was restless and it put me to sleep. No slipknot though.

Does her nappy need changing? Have you fed her recently? Cuddle her?

Just rock her till she calms down. Otherwise all you have to do is let her cry it out, then she'll fall asleep.

As long as you're sure she isn't wet or hungry or sick, she probably just needs to be comforted.

Hold her in your arms and move her sort of up and down. It's kind of jiggly. Make shhing noises, they can be soothing and remind the baby of the womb.

Or try putting her kind of on your shoulder and rubbing her back. That's soothing to the baby and will help if she has any gas.

Make sure it's quiet and if anything is on, it's soft music. Nothing too bright either.
