Hijab is so that a woman is covered up and you don't have fantasies about her. You love her for the woman she is rather than what she looks like

If a man loved a woman for who she was, why would he ever need to beat her (as the Koran permits him to do)?

The Torah/Old Testament permits it it, as do other old religions. Beating your wife is quite common place in old religion, especially ones where the woman is the husbands property.

Citation, please? Chapter and verse, if you would.

*shrug* It is a religion, like any other. I neither like nor dislike it.

I believe it's vol 16ish of the Misneh Torah(the one where all the laws pertaining to marriage are broken down) The titles Hicot Ishut or something like that.

I don't have a copy of the Torah broken down in that manner. If you could find it in the Old Testament (here's a link for you: http://www.biblegateway.com ) I would really appreciate it.

I don't think it would be in the Old testament as the Misneh Torah is one of those things only a follower of Judaism would need.

So when you said "It's in the Old Testament," you lied.

No, it's a companion piece for the Old Testament. It comes packaged with many editions of the Torah. Which is why I typed Torah/Old Testament since aside from the companion piece are nearly the exact same thing.

Except that you just admitted that it's not in the actual Old Testament.

But it is an official part/companion of The Torah.

Beating your wife is quite common place in old religion, especially ones where the woman is the husbands property.

Islam has a good five hundred years on Christianity, and Judaism is god-knows how much older than that.

You can't use age as an excuse.

Islam is an old religion, and even it's not as bad as some of the oldest religions out their when it comes to women. I consider a new religion to be one created during or after the 15th century in case you're wondering.

But not in the Old Testament; ergo, great if you're talking about Orthodox Jews and worthless if you're talking about Christians.
