Like I said before, there is that 1 particular girl at my mainstream school who is severely disabled and can oftentimes be noisy and disruptive. She screams and it sounds like a severely injured animal. So today I had a private talk with my teacher who explained to me a little about her disorders. Now I understand her pretty well, but I do wish she didn't have to scream so loud, especially since my school doesn't allow earplugs or Ipods during class and I'm going deaf from hearing all that noise! My teacher said it would be a good idea to set up times where me and this girl could get to know each other when we're not busy and maybe then we'll understand each other more. She always looks angry at me for no reason and that hurts me. So anyway, my teacher is going to speak with her teacher and see if I can help out with her class. I'm worried because there are certain behaviors I'm not used to like her noises and I won't know how to act in front of them. I just hope we can understand each other better, maybe since she doesn't really talk we can write notes or sign language. What do you guys suggest I do in front of these kids? They are all high school and college age. Thanks I appreciate your help.

Ignore her sounds, she probably can't help it.

Look past it.

you don't have to get to know her if you don't want to. jeez, she's ill, just ignore her if you don't want to help her and stop whining about something she can't help.

And you are wondering why you're getting nasty looks? Wouldn't be surprised if she did a bit more than make noises and give you nasty looks.

I agree. You seem like such a jerk. Its not like she makes noise on purpose. She probably doesn't know any form of human language and these noises are her only way of communicating. Its great you want to know her but I've read your other stuff to and well you gotta take inconsideration that some people aren't as lucky as you are. How would you feel if you were in her shoes?

Well I don't find what you were saying rude. Your just asking for advice. You werent making fun of her or really complaining about her disabilities, but rather asking how to be more comfortable with them.
I just wanted to point that out. Other than that, I don't have much to say...
When she makes noises or anything, just try to keep acting how you were before. If you change your attitude or make a funny look, it could really really hurt her.

he isn't being rude, he is asking for advice on what to do , with relation to how to act. It looks as if he is trying to ignore the noises and to get to know her but there is a difficulty...even if she can't help but make the noises it doesn't make it any easier to be around when said noises are going on, its just like "well I don't blame her for making them but it is still distracting". Everyone deserves a chance for education but you cannot deny how distracting it can be. I have personally gone to school with people who make noises like that, they cannot actually help it, so I didn't blame them but it can be hard to deal with at times.

Why is it even your concern?  Like, I don't get why you think you have business dealing with her, and I also don't get why your teacher would disclose information on her disorder. Maybe she just doesn't like you, get over it.
